VWE Ltd has recently installed a fully functional Vertical Axis Turbine at the infamous Myres Hill test site. The 3Kw turbine is currently being tested on a 9m high hinged mast.
The Myres Hill test site offers excellent exposure to prevailing south westerly winds which have an annual mean wind speed of 7.7 m/s at 10m elevation.
VWE Ltd is delighted to report that since monitoring began in April 2008, the level of performance and robustness of the turbine has exceeded our expectations.
We will continue to test on this and other viable sites in the coming months, with the aim of acquiring data that will prove instrumental in bringing the turbine to market in 2009.
